Damien Nicolas Roux

Damien Nicolas Roux – DNR, is a Parisian artist and illustrator.
Coming from an artistic family background, with a father who was an architect and painter and a mother trained in fine arts, his visual vocabulary is deeply influenced by architecture, antiquity, and French decorative arts with a neoclassical touch.
He attaches great importance to harmonious, flat colors and composition, preparatory sketches in graphite, work with a ruler and set square, and vanishing points.
He uses a variety of techniques, including fine-tip pens, felt-tip pens, colored pencils, and Indian ink, with a preference for watercolor washes on Arches paper.
Among his notable series, “Room Portraits II” explores imaginary but possible interiors, where 20th-century masterpieces rub shoulders with animal silhouettes and sometimes a fleeting human presence in unexpected settings, not without a certain humor.
DNR exhibits his personal work in France and the United States.
Recent commissions include illustrations for the Hôtel Amour, a collection of cashmere, textiles, and wallpaper for the luxury lifestyle brand SAVED New York, window displays for Harrod’s, and visuals for L’Intemporel magazine.
