Barbara P. is an illustrator, painter and architect living in Marseille. She graduated from the École Supérieure d’Architecture de Bretagne and lived in Berlin for six years before returning to France in 2019.
Barbara has a deep interest in people, their interactions, their moments of solitude and the complexities of their private lives. The theme of living together underpins her work. Barbara paints portraits of individuals lost in their emotions or captured in their own moment. She also depicts existing or imagined architectural settings, to which her brushstrokes lend her own unique poetry.
Her digital illustrations are instantly recognisable by their vivid brushstrokes, a wide palette of naive colours, and the prominence given to negative space. Places and faces find their reflection in Barbara’s eyes.
She has presented her work as a painter at various exhibitions in France and Germany, including her solo show ‘ Peau de silence ’ (Berlin, November 2018), which followed a two-month residency at the SIM residency in Reykjavik, Iceland (summer 2018).
